Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain
"Plucking brilliant!" - Sunday Times "Wonderfully clever"- David Bowie "Absolutely the Best of British" - Monty Python's Michael Palin
Back in NZ after sell-out 2008 tour.
Fans mob them in Japan. They've played at Ronnie Scott's, the Royal Albert Hall at the BBC Proms, The Royal Festival Hall and Glastonbury. Where ever this twanging, singing, awesome, foot-stomping band of ukulele players turns up, they fill up theatres and sing, strum and pluck their way into the cockles of your heart.
A complete sell-out hit at their first New Zealand appearance at the 2008 NZ International Arts Festival in Wellington, the Ukes are back for a full national tour!
A concert by the Ukulele Orchestra is a funny, virtuosic, twanging, awesome, foot-stomping obituary of rock-n-roll and melodious light entertainment featuring only the "bonsai guitar" and a menagerie of voices. Audiences have a good time with the Ukulele Orchestra. Going from Tchaikovsky to Nirvana via Otis Redding and Spaghetti Western soundtracks, the Orchestra takes us on "a world tour with only hand luggage" and gives the listener "One Plucking Thing After Another".
